No decisions. Just dinner.
Hi, I'm Ryan. I started Settel because my friends and family needed real food on busy nights — not takeout, not something from a box. I'm a husband, dad, and backyard grower based in the Southeastern Polk County area. Settel is my way of practicing stewardship and building community, one less busy night at a time.
At Settel, every meal begins with real ingredients — simple, honest, and chosen with care. I cook the same way I do at home: whole foods first, minimal processing, and flavors built from scratch. Portions are generous enough to satisfy growing kids, yet balanced to support a healthy routine.
Each meal is served in a 12–14oz portion, which aligns closely with typical dinner serving sizes for adults and active kids. It's enough to feel substantial and nourishing without being oversized or wasteful. For many families, one container is a comfortable single serving; for smaller appetites, it can easily be split into two.
Whenever possible, I use ingredients from my own backyard — free-range eggs from our hens, produce from the garden, herbs picked fresh in season. When sourcing elsewhere, I choose products I'd trust for my own family: quality meats, clean sauces, and fresh vegetables.
Nothing here is mass-produced or engineered for shelf life. No fillers, no shortcuts, no cheap substitutions. Just real food prepared intentionally, with the goal of giving families a meal they can feel good about.
1. Thawing
For best quality, place the frozen meal in the refrigerator for 24–48 hours before reheating. Meals may also thaw safely in an insulated bag if removed from the freezer in the morning and consumed at lunch.
2. Preparation
Remove the lid or crack it slightly to allow steam to vent.
CRUCIAL: Add a small splash of water (1–2oz) to maintain moisture and improve heating consistency.
3. Microwave Heating
Cover the container while reheating to allow steam to circulate. (I prefer using a microwave cover rather than the lid, but the lid works just as well.)
Heat on HIGH for 2 minutes.
Stir thoroughly.
Add another splash of water if needed.
Re-cover and heat for an additional 1 minute.
4. Important Notes
Reheating directly from frozen is not recommended, as quality may degrade. Ensure food reaches an internal temperature of 165°F before consuming.
For the best experience, ensure the burrito is thawed all the way through. Reheating from frozen will likely overcook the eggs and result in a mediocre experience.
Once thawed, remove the sticker label and loosen the foil. Keep the burrito wrapped in foil for the majority of the reheat. Feel free to remove foil during the last few minutes for more exterior texture. Bake in a convection or toaster oven until heated thoroughly.
My best experience is with a countertop toaster oven at 375°F for 17–23 minutes.
Your feedback helps me improve every meal. I genuinely appreciate you taking the time.
